Shop Local BC Campaign

BC Hotel Association

Summary

The British Columbia Hotel Association (BCHA) partnered with Arkitek Creative to produce Shop Local BC — a province-wide initiative designed to inspire the tourism and hospitality sector to “Source Local.” The campaign aimed to strengthen economic resilience within BC’s hotel network by showcasing the small businesses, artisans, and suppliers that drive the province’s hospitality economy.

Working under a tight production schedule, Arkitek delivered a cinematic and emotionally grounded video that highlighted the innovation and collaboration behind every guest experience. Featuring local brands such as Salt Spring Coffee, Portex Design, and GreenCo Robots, the campaign celebrated the pride and creativity that define BC’s hotel community — reminding audiences that local partnerships are the heart of sustainable hospitality.

Scope of Work

• 1 × Hero video (2 minutes, 16:9 aspect ratio)

• 1 × 30-second cutdown (16:9 and 9:16)

• 1 × Social card thumbnail (16:9, 9:16)

Approach

The campaign was developed through a collaborative and time-sensitive production process designed to balance storytelling authenticity with BCHA’s provincial marketing goals.

Pre-Production

Arkitek led creative development, scripting, and production planning in close collaboration with the BCHA communications team. Working from a clear campaign objective — to motivate BC accommodators to source locally — the narrative was crafted around authentic business stories and the leadership voice of Ingrid Jarrett, BCHA’s President & CEO. Filming locations were selected across Greater Vancouver and the Gulf Islands, including Seaside Hotel, JW Marriott Parq Vancouver, and Salt Spring Coffee.

Production

Across multiple shoot days, Arkitek captured high-quality interviews and workplace vignettes at local suppliers and hotel partners. Each segment featured BC-based businesses including Salt Spring Coffee, Portex Design, and GreenCo Robots — showcasing their innovation and impact within the provincial hospitality ecosystem. The film combined kinetic behind-the-scenes sequences with cinematic interviews, unified through a consistent tone: prideful, homegrown, and forward-looking.

Post-Production

Editing, colour grading, and sound design were completed in-house at Arkitek Creative. The final cut wove together documentary realism and refined visual storytelling, supported by motion graphics and branded typography. A fast, collaborative turnaround ensured the campaign launched ahead of BCHA’s provincial marketing deadline.

Through a balance of creative storytelling and logistical precision, Arkitek delivered a polished, heartfelt campaign that championed BC’s hospitality community and the power of sourcing local

My colleagues and I are in complete awe of the Arkitek team! We had the immense pleasure of working with them on a video project, and from concept to execution, their creativity, professionalism, and expertise were abundantly clear. Despite an impossible timeline and demanding scope, the team leapt into action — working closely with us to build and polish our vision to perfectly align with our campaign. The finished product blew us away and far surpassed expectations.
